Marvin Tyler is the owner and founder of Slammer Tennis World. He founded Slammer Tennis World in April 2003 to motivate and educated people through the game of tennis. Marvin is a certified tennis teaching professional who earned his certificate at the professional tennis registry (PTR)/ Dennis Van De Meer Tennis University in Hilton Head, SC. Marvin has been teaching tennis for over 18 years and have taught many kids that went on to play high school and college tennis. Some of the players he taught played in USTA/ATA tournaments and played the #1 spot on their high school tennis teams. They also went on to play tennis in college. Marvin is also a certified Tournament director. In 2008, Slammer Tennis World received the Community Tennis Association (CTA) of the year award from USTA New England. Born in Emporia, VA, Marvin received a proclamation from the Mayor of Emporia, VA, Mary L. Person in 2016 , recognizing him as the first ever certified tennis teaching professional from Emporia, VA/Greenville County. Marvin also received a plaque from the Emporia, VA town circuit clerk, Robert C. Wrenn in 2016 recognizing him for his service in the community.
Marvin also received the PTR Connecticut State Member of the Year award in February 2014, and was featured on the January/February 2017 cover of the PTR Tennis Pro Magazine. Marvin is a lifetime member of the American Tennis Association (ATA) and in 2007, he received the Men of Distinction award from the NAACP of Dutchess County, NY. Marvin loves teaching kids and adults tennis; it is truly his passion and feels that everyone should learn the game of tennis because it is a lifetime sport!
